How I Actually Grew My Hair Faster
A real life guide that goes beyond oils and pretty Instagram reels
Growing hair faster sounds like one of those things people promise in ads and then quietly forget about.
I used to believe hair growth was just genetics and luck.
Then I had a period where my hair thinned out.
Stress.
Diet.
Over styling.
Probably all of it.
So I turned it into a full on experiment.
Supplements.
Scalp care.
Food.
Habits.
Every weird thing TikTok and my grandma suggested.
Some things were hype.
Some things worked so well it was honestly rude.
This is everything I learned.
What actually helped my hair grow faster.
What made it thicker.
What I still do today.
No fairy dust.
Just real life results.

First thing you need to know about hair growth
Your hair is not just hair.
It is a reflection of your hormones.
Your nutrition.
Your stress levels.
Your scalp health.
If your scalp is unhappy.
Your hair will be unhappy.
If your body is underfed.
Your hair will be slow and fragile.
So when people ask me how to grow hair faster, I always say this.
You do not grow hair from the ends.
You grow hair from the root.
And the root lives in your scalp and your bloodstream.
So that is where the magic happens.
What made the biggest difference for me
Let me be honest.
I tried a lot.
Some things gave me baby hairs in two weeks.
Some things did nothing except make my bathroom smell like herbs.
Here is what actually changed my hair.
Scalp massage
This sounds boring.
It is not.
I started doing a massage every night.
Just five minutes.
With my fingers.
Or a scalp brush.
Blood flow matters.
When blood moves.
Oxygen moves.
Nutrients move.
That is how follicles wake up.
After two weeks I had tiny hairs sticking out all over my hairline.
I looked slightly electrocuted.
Worth it.
Castor Oil and Rosemary Oil
This combo is amazing.
Castor oil is thick and heavy.
It feeds the follicles.
Rosemary oil increases circulation.
It works almost like minoxidil but without the side effects.
I mix them.
I massage it into my scalp.
I leave it overnight.
Two times a week.
My shedding went down.
My baby hairs went up.
That is my favorite trade.

Rosemary Lotion by Weleda
If oils feel heavy for you, this is amazing.
Rosemary water or lotion gives the same stimulation but lighter.
I spray it on my scalp every morning.
It smells clean.
My scalp feels awake.
Hair loves that.

Rosemary Shampoo
I rotate shampoos but rosemary shampoo is always in my shower.
It helps with circulation.
It helps with dandruff.
It helps follicles stay active.
If you only change one thing in your shower, make it this. I like this one from Avalon Organics as it really goes into deep cleaning mode, lots of foam and a sensation after wash I personally like on my scalp, that one when you feel it’s clean, clean.

Scalp treatment Kerastase anti pellicullaire
Dandruff blocks follicles.
Blocked follicles grow slower hair.
This treatment changed my scalp.
Less flakes.
Less itch.
More growth.
It feels fancy.
It works. I use it a couple of times a week before the shower, leave it for at least 2 hours, if you can leave it in for the night, better. This one does not feel thick or clogging, it works great.

Red light therapy
This felt sci fi.
But it works.
Red light wakes up follicles.
It increases ATP in the cells.
It literally gives your hair energy.
I use a red light cap three times a week.
My hairline filled in.
My crown looks thicker.
It is one of the most underrated tools ever.
What I eat now for hair growth
Your hair is made of protein.
If you are not eating enough.
It will not grow fast.
These foods changed everything for me.
More protein
This is not optional.
Eggs.
Greek yogurt.
Chicken.
Fish.
My hair grows slower when I slack on protein.
I notice it.

Sea food
Seafood gives you zinc.
Iron.
Iodine.
Omega 3s.
All hair nutrients.
Salmon and sardines are like hair vitamins. One of my favorite ways to eat it is with cottage cheese on a toast, delicious.

Eat avocado
Healthy fats.
Biotin.
Vitamin E.
My hair became shinier after I started eating avocado every day.
Also my skin loved it.

Nuts
Brazil nuts.
Walnuts.
Almonds.
Selenium and healthy fats feed follicles.
I snack on them like a squirrel.

Fruits
Vitamin C helps absorb iron.
Berries.
Oranges.
Kiwi.
Papaya.
My hair shed less when I eat more fruit.

Beetroot juice
This boosts blood flow.
More blood flow.
More hair growth.
I drink it a few times a week.
It tastes like dirt.
But my hair does not care.

Ginger juice
Ginger juice also increases circulation.
I mix it into smoothies or with just plain water.
Spicy for your tongue.
Amazing for your scalp.

Matcha
Antioxidants.
Calm energy.
Less stress.
Stress kills hair growth.
Matcha makes me chill.
My hair likes chill.
If you are trying to grow your hair, try swapping coffee for matcha for a month, you might be surprised with the results!

More cereals
Whole grains feed your hair.
That includes:
- Millet
- Buckwheat

They give silica and minerals that strengthen hair strands.
My breakage went down.
Supplements that actually helped
I am picky with supplements.
These worked.
Brewers’ Yeast
Brewer’s yeast.
B vitamins.
Protein.
My hair grew faster after a month.
My nails got strong too.

Mary Ruth Organic
This is one of those supplements that I did not expect to love as much as I do.
But I really do.

Mary Ruth liquid multivitamins feel different from capsules.
They absorb fast.
They do not upset my stomach.
And they actually made a visible difference in my hair.
About two weeks after I started taking it, my shedding slowed down.
My brush had less hair in it.
My shower drain was not scary anymore.
That alone was worth it.
The formula has biotin, B12, zinc, vitamin C, vitamin D, and trace minerals, which are all things hair follicles need to stay active.

Hair cannot grow if those nutrients are missing.
This felt like filling in the gaps.
Another thing I love is that it does not feel harsh.
Some hair vitamins make me feel jittery or bloated.
This one never does.
And the peach mango flavor actually tastes good.
That matters.
If something tastes bad, I will not take it every day.
Consistency is everything with hair growth.
I take Mary Ruth in the morning.
It gives me energy.
My scalp feels healthier.
And my hair looks thicker at the roots.
It is not magic.
But it is one of the best foundations for growing hair faster and stronger.

Sea moss
Minerals.
Iodine.
Iron.
This made my hair feel thicker.
My energy improved too. And I love the mango taste.
This one has ashwagandha, black seed oil and ginger, which makes the combo even better.

B12
Low B12 is one of the causes of hair loss.
You can be eating well.
You can be using oils.
You can be doing scalp massage.
But if B12 is low, your hair follicles literally do not have enough energy to grow.
B12 is what helps your body make red blood cells.
Red blood cells carry oxygen.
Oxygen feeds hair roots.
No oxygen.
No growth.

The one I use is the Garden of Life Organics B12 spray.
It is methylcobalamin, which is the most active form of B12.
And it is a spray, so it absorbs through the mouth and straight into the bloodstream.
That matters.
A lot of people do not absorb B12 well from pills.
Sprays bypass digestion.
Within a couple of weeks of using this, my shedding slowed down noticeably.
My brush had less hair.
My shower drain was not filling up.
I also felt more energy.
Less brain fog.
Which is a classic sign B12 was low.

This spray is made from organic whole foods like broccoli, spinach, berries, and parsley.
So it feels gentle.
No weird synthetic aftertaste.
I spray it under my tongue in the morning.
That is it.
When B12 is optimized, hair follicles stay in the growth phase longer.
That means thicker hair.
Longer hair.
Less shedding.
If you are losing hair or your growth feels slow, this is one of the first things I would check.
It made a real difference for me.
DO NOT consume if you are already taking a multivitamin with B12, such as the Mary Ruth Organic’s one!

Trace minerals
Hair loves minerals.
This made my strands stronger.
Less snapping.
More length.
You simply add it to water and apart from making your water taste better, you get magnesium, boron, lithium and more trace minerals needed for your body to function better.

Horsetail tea
Silica for hair.
I drink it three times a week.
My hair feels more elastic.
Less breakage.
Shampoos I have tested
Here is my honest experience.
| Shampoo | What it did for me | Who it is best for |
|---|---|---|
| Rosemary | Less shedding, more baby hairs | Anyone wanting faster growth |
| Nioxin | Thickens hair, reduces fall | Thin or fine hair |
| Kerastase Genesis | Stronger roots, less breakage | Weak damaged hair |
| Honey Shampoo by Lush | Clean scalp, good oils | Dry or sensitive scalp |
I rotate them.

Other habits that matter way more than you think

Your hair grows when you sleep.
No sleep.
No growth.
I aim for seven hours minimum.
My hair notices.
Silk pillow
Cotton breaks hair.
Silk lets it slide.
Less frizz.
Less breakage.

Plastic sharp combs destroy hair.
I use wide tooth or wooden combs.
Game changer.
No harsh hair ties
Scrunchies.
Silk ties.
Your hair will thank you.

Hydrated hair breaks less.
That means longer hair.
